Message from Police - Don't Protect Yourself!

What is this country coming to when a person cannot even protect themselves, their family and property from theft and danger?  Apparently you cannot protect yourself on the North Shore of the Commonwealth. Swampscott, Massachusetts is a seaside community about 15 miles north of Boson.  Here is a direct message from a Swampscott police spokesperson when facing a threat:

“We don’t urge anybody to (fight back),” [Police spokesman] Cassidy said. “We want them to call us.”

Yes, call the police , but while you are waiting, do not do anything to protect your family or property, let the criminals take whatever they want of yours, and the police will arrive after you have already suffered loss.  Of course, I should probably give you more insight as to what I am talking about.

Anthony McKay, a resident of Cherry St. in Swampscott was in his house on Saturday morning when he heard noises outside his home.  Apparently his wife phoned the police while he went outside to investigate.  Outside McKay found Christian Johnson of Lynn (shocker!), a known drug user, who is also known to carry a knife, messing with his truck  Well, when Johnson attempted to pull a knife on McKay, a fight ensued, and McKay punched Johnson in the face.

Score one for the good guy.  A family man protects his family and property and subdues the assailant until police arrive.  McKay should be commended for his actions.  The Swampscott PD is so thrilled with McKay, that do you want to know what they gave him?   A summons for assault and battery!  That's right McKay, protecting himself now faces possible jail time and huge legal fees simply for protecting what he should have the right to lawfully protect.

McKay stated, “I was just defending my property and home. I’m not going to be scared away by these little punks. This is where I live, and I’ve lived here my entire life ... I guess everybody else closes those doors and don’t want to confront people, but I’m not going to put up with this. I’ve got children here.”

Good for you Anthony McKay.  Maybe if there were more people like you around there would be less crime.

And shame on the Swampscott Police allowing McKay to be arrested. Although I fully support the police for what they do about 99.9% of the time, this is an instance where they are charging the wrong guy.  A man, doing the right thing, faces possibly losing his home if convicted.  Charges should be dropped immediately, and if the PD is not going to do it, then Attorney General Martha Coakley should step in, or even perhaps, Governor Deval Patrick.

But I forgot, Both Governor Patrick and AG Coakley believes that criminal rights are more important that victims' rights here in the Commonwealth of Taxandscrewus.

Tea Party v. Occupy Party

I have heard people state that the Occupy Wall Street movement is similar to that of the Tea Party.  Well, the Tea Party was against the bailouts for the banks, and so are the Occupiers, but that is pretty much where the similarities end.  I am a member of the Tea Party as in Tax Enough Already.  I see myself as having no similiarities with the whiners of the Occupy Movement. I am a proud American who wants to return to our founding principles, not destroy the very fabric of America, as the Occupiers seem to want to do.  I was opposed to the bailout, because I felt it was more of my tax dollars being spent, because of groups like ACORN and Barney Frank telling banks to hand out mortgages like Halloween candy regardless of applicants proof of income or employment status.  President Bush, I believe was even at fault for the banking bailout, but then again why wouldn't he be at fault, because according to President Obama and Nancy Pelosi is is at fault for everything that is wrong with this country and always will be.

However, the Occupiers are mad at the bailout, because they didn't get bailed out.  There battle cry seems to be, "The banks got bailed out, I want a bailout. The banks got theirs, I want mine.  Pay my student loans and give me a living wage so I do not have to work."

But, rather than take my opinion of the matter, lets look at some pictures which contain evidence of why the Tea Party and Occupy Movement are so inherently different.

As the expression goes, "A Picture is worth a thousand words."  Well, you will get a thousand words from each picture, plus a few more from my insightful commentary.

TEA PARTY

From a Sacramento Tea Party rally, this sign may disagree with President Obama, but it is written respectfully.

 OCCUPY WALL STREET
NewImage
This picture, taken from occupy Phoenix, is a gem.  The occupier on the left of this picture feels it okay to personally attack Governor Jan Brewer, by scribbling that she is a "lying whore", and the guy on the right states that his artwork is like that of a second-grader, because his funding was cut.  Let me run out to the ATM right now, this could be the next Picasso if we just give him money.  Why doesn't his sign read, "I suck because you won't give me money!"

TEA PARTY
A Tea Party parade on Tax Day. Once again notice that everyone is proud to be American and patriotic displaying pride with all the American Flag.

OCCUPY WALL STREET

They desecrate the American Flag.  Now I know all the lefties out there will state that he is exercising his freedom of speech.  But I find it quite ironic that he is "exercising free speech" against the very symbol that grants him that speech to begin with.

TEA PARTY

From the Boston Common Tea Party Rally in April of 2010. The participants are making themselves comfortable while waiting for the rally to begin.  Notice that the are looks fairly neat and their is not trash strewn everywhere.

OCCUPY WALL STREET

Look at all the trash and people just lying around a public area.  They have no respect for others and property and apparently have no respect for themselves judging by the filth they are voluntarily living in.

So, if the Tea Party and Occupy movement are similiar, I would love to hear why.

The fact is that all these occupy people are squatting on public lands because they do not have jobs and are either to unmotivated, unskilled, or unshowered to attempt to get one.  If a high-paying job isn't gift-wrapped and given to them in their tent, then they are not leaving.  But no worries to them, because members of the Tea Party are hard at work earning a living to support themselves and their families.  Oh yeah, and they are paying their government mandated share of taxes so the occupiers don't have to work.

Friday Night Football - Not in the Rain!

Well its Friday Night, and most students and communities get excited about local high school football games.  But, not in the Town of Mansfield, Massachusetts!  Tonight's game has been postponed until tomorrow because of rain.

Northeast US Current Weather

That is right, there is rain in the forcast (as it was spelled on the Mansfield football website), not lightning, not hail, not a blizzard, rain, simple rain.  What is the reason for cancelling the game because of rain.  The players may get dirty and muddy?  The grass and mud stains may be really hard to get out of the uniforms? The spectators butts will get wet on the bleachers? The administrators are afraid of someone getting the sniffles? Someone, please enlighten me!

What would Coach Eric Taylor say if a Panther/Lion game was going to get postponed because of rain.

Once again it seems as if the wussification of the Commonwealth continues, as now we do not want to let our kids play in the rain, and the lefty liberals of Massachusetts communities will continue to make sure our children never face adversity.

Pay my loans because you have more than me!

For those of you who support the Occupy Movement, please Check out this video
If you really support this young man and his movement, I would really be interested in why.

This kid's message is "Pay for my student Loans Because you have more money than I do.  You have worked hard to become successful and I want what you have, so you should give it to me.  i have a constitutional right to ask for things, so you should give me what I want"

Is that what the occupiers and supporters really believe?

I am just wondering, am I crazy to think that these kids are out of line to ask for handouts?  Whatever happened to graduating college, getting a crappy job, and working hard to succeed in life and earn your way to a better job.  Meanwhile, paying the debts, such as student loans, that you voluntarily entered into.

I just really don't understand this whole movement of deadbeats, I mean occupiers, that are using up valuable resources and taxpayer dollars.  These kids are basically setting up shop all over the country because they don't want to pay their bills.

Well,I would love to write more on this subject, but I am joining the movement.  I am off to protest Honda Finance now.  You see, they gave me a car loan, which I asked them for and signed all the documentation, and completely understood what my repayment obligations would be,  but since Honda has more money than me, they should pick up the tab.

Occupy Boston - Its not your Fault

So as many of you know, a group of young protesters have illegally taken over the Dewey Square area of Boston to cry and whine about the fact that they have student loans and no jobs.  But I have come to the conclusion that it is not their fault that they have no jobs.  Lets cut these kids some slack.  I mean after reading the names of the arrested, I see that the come from some hard hitting areas of Massachusetts such as Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, Needham, and Wayland.  They probably all had a tough upbringing in middle-upper class suburbs.  They live in areas where they never received grades, because a bad grade might hurt someones feelings.  They all got trophies for playing soccer, and never kept score, because it doesn't matter if you win or lose,  just as long as everyone is happy.  Your parents probably supplied you with everything and anything you needed in life - x-box, vacation hope on the Cape,a Mercedes, they never let you fail, they never let you face adversity.  They probably never even let you be in an uncomfortable position.  They never told you that life can be tough and unfair.  You were their little precious junior an life was just going to be full of rainbows and sunshine.

So now it is time for these kids to fend for themselves, but they do not know how. All they can do is cry and whine -"Give me a job, its your responsibility to give me a job!"  Because they have been taken care of their whole life.    Of course,it is also the fault of my favorite Mayor, Tommy Menino.  As these kids are illegally camping in a public park without any permits, our eloquent Mayor welcomes them with open arms.  Although it is estimated that their illegal squatting may cost the City up to $2 million dollars in police OT pay, the Mayor simply tells them to keep protesting, letting them know that the hardworking taxpayers of Boston will pick up their tab.

So,as you can see it is not these protesters faults that they do not know how to get off their you know what and go apply for a job, its the liberal policies of many Massachusetts communities that are raising a bunch of crybabies and wussies.  And politicians that are telling them that it is okay to ride the coattails of others hard work.

Occupy Personal Responsibility

So the Occupy Wall Street Movement has moved to Boston.  These jobless, crybabies have set-up camp on the Rose Kennedy Greenway adjacent to South Station.
Here is a picture of their refugee camp from my car window:

Its not a great picture, but I was actually driving to a job to apparently support all the whiny protesters who choose not to work and simply demand things be given to them.
What I really don't understand is what exactly are these kids protesting.  You are mad at Wall Street because of the mortgage mess and bailouts.  Well if you are mad at the mortgage mess, why don't you protest all those people who defaulted on their loans.  Remember, in order to get a mortgage a person must go to the bank, beg and plead for a loan, then sign, usually in triplicate, that they understand the terms and agree to pay bank.  the banks did not force anyone into these mortgages.  Secondly, if you are upset about the bailouts, then why don't you protest the government who authorized the bailouts.  The banks couldn't bail themselves out, and it was our elected officials who gave them our money.

The "Occupy Wall Street" protesters have listed 13 proposed demands from their website, here are a few of them:

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.
Demand four: Free college education.
Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.
Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.
Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.
These are some of my favorites.  So what I am understanding is that everyone gets a living wage whether they work or not.  They can get a free college education, but then will not have to work afterward because of previously stated living wage.  Then anyone from anywhere can come and live in this great country receiving stated living wage and educations.  And finally all debt will be wiped out.  Sounds like a great idea, sign me up.  I am ready to quit my job, and get this living wage.  I guess working for a living is for suckers!
Seriously, what is wrong with these people.  Whatever happened to personal responsibility.  Did these kids parents never teach them that?  Well, I have a lesson for you misguided, entitled crybabies.  Get a backbone and toughen up.  Hard work is how you become rich in life, not whining for handouts.  I hear you complaining that college was too expensive and you have too many loans, and the job market is not what you thought it would be.  Well, nobody forced you to go to college, that was a choice you made.  Many people have loans and do you know what they do?  They pay them back!!!  There are jobs available, but it is not my fault you decided to study French Impressionst History as opposed to something useful like Business or Accounting.  In addition, you can go wait tables, sling boxes at FedEx, or many other "non-glamorous"jobs.  A person with true character, which apparently the Occupy protesters do not have will do whatever it takes to feed their family and meet their financial obligations.  Not these babies, they want me and many other hardworking Americans to simply turn over what we have worked hard to earn.  I heard one protester state to Fox News,"“If the rich were willing to share, we could all live in prosperity.”  Well Fox News, here is a quote from Tassi, "If the lazy would work hard, quit whining and be accountable for themselves, then we could all live in prosperity."  I am sick and tired of people wanting equality by bringing the successful down.  About a system of class equality from the bottom up instead of the top down.  the real funny thing about the Occupy Boston protesters is that they want the successful to share with them.  However the were unwilling to share with the homeless when many of Boston's finest street dwellers were excited about the prospect of tents and pillows at the "camp."  So the protesters want me to give to them, but in turn do not want to give to the homeless.  So, this issue has me really excited as you can read.  I am not even going into the Mayor allowing these people to camp in a public park in which no camping is allowed. That is a story for another day.
My final piece of advice for the protesters is - why don't you go occupy something more beneficial, like a job!

Boston, Menino is too good for Walmart

Once again the mental giant that is City of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino has made another fantastic move.  He has have rebuffed a proposal from Walmart to build a discount store in the Roxbury of Boston.  And why would they want Walmart to open, all they are going to do is provide jobs and low cost merchandise to an economically depressed neighborhood of Boston.

Walmart previously made a pitch for a store in the Downton Crossing area of Boston and Mayor Menino said no.  Now they are making a pitch in Roxbury and the Mayor says no again.  I really cannot understand why the mayor will not allow a company to provide jobs for the residents of Boston when many people are struggling to feed their families and pay their bills.  According to the Boston Globe (Yes I read this liberal rag from time to time):
"In a recent private meeting with developers, Menino administration officials declined to endorse a plan to open a Walmart Neighborhood Market grocery store at the former Bartlett bus yard, a shuttered MBTA maintenance facility near Dudley Square, where food-shopping options are few.
A spokeswoman for Mayor Thomas M. Menino said a Walmart would undercut local businesses, including the nearby Tropical Foods market, whose owners are planning to expand in the neighborhood."

Are you kidding me, no Walmart becasue it could affect a nearby Tropical Foods market, who is planning to expand.  Is Tropical Foods going to offer the same amount of jobs and opportunity as Walmart?  Have they shown the City a business plan with expansion.  I sincerely doubt it.  And the Mayor would rather leave a beat up old bus facility undeveloped.  I really do not understand all the Walmart hate.

Now personally, I do not shop at Walmart.  There are none that are convenient to me, and I am pretty happy with the Target at the South Bay center about 2 miles from my home.  However, if there was one close to me, I imagine I would go in their from time to time.  If for no other reason than to go and see the "people of walmart" live and in person.  I love those emails! However Walmart will create jobs for people.  Let me write that again, Walmart will create jobs.  Although the Mayor and the President for that matter do not seem to think that job creation is of dire importance right now, many people do.  And, Roxbury is an area that could use jobs. For those who have never been to the Dudley Square area of Roxbury, it is a high crime area, with many run down buildings, and closed storefronts.  So I would imagine that many of the residents there would be happy with some new opportunities.

I realize that all you corporate success haters will complain that Walmart only offers low-wage paying jobs.  Although you may be right in that assessment, I m fairly confident that most of the residents of Roxbury are not high high priced engineers, surgeons, or consultants.  Also, I do not believe any of the current employers in Roxbury are offering $100K plus a year jobs.  The only high paying jobs in Roxbury are the "pharmaceutical salespeople," "arms dealers," and "horizontal refreshment specialists."  Of course not only can Walmart offer jobs, but also opportunity for growth within a large corporation, something the little corner store may not be able to offer.

Mayor Menino once again shows that he does not want people to be able to better themselves.  He wants to keep them dependent on EBT cards, public housing, and the free handouts giving by the Democratic Political Machine of Boston to ensure votes and power.
